Skin Cancer

There are a number of ways of dealing with skin cancer and its precursors.  We treat sunspots and early skin cancers by freezing with liquid nitrogen or prescribing cream for the affected area for a number of weeks.  We usually treat more aggressive or advanced cancerous growths by excising them at the Clinic.  When indicated we will refer for major surgery or radiation therapy.

Laser Therapy

There are many lasers available for many purposes, but we have found our Dual Yellow laser very safe, efficient and affordable for treating a range of conditions including:

  • Broken veins or capillaries and other vascular problems - telangiectasia is the proliferation of those red, purple or even bluish vessels that tend to occur on the cheeks, nose and chin of many Australians, especially those of Anglo-Celtic origin.  UV exposure and age increase the prevalence of these unsightly vesssels.  Some people have large prominent individual vessels, others have many small vessels causing facial redness and/or a rosy complexion (rosacea). Cherry spots (Campbell-de-Morgan spots) on the face or trunk are also very amenable to treatment with the Dual Yellow laser, as are reddish birthmarks (Port Wine Stains).
  • Pigmentation - the most common pigmented lesions are solar lentigines and freckles.  Treatment can result in fading or removal of the lesions.
  • Skin Rejuvenation - may be achieved in a single lunch break, with very minimal side effects and makeup can be worn straight after.  Most people benefit after 2 to 4 treatments.
  • Stretch Marks - Athough more than one treatment may be required, the results have been proven to be effective.
  • Acne - laser treatment for active acne has greatly increased in popularity recently, due to the outstanding results achieved and the lack of contraindications.  More than one treatment is generally required and the results achieved can extend from reasonably long periods to permanently.
  • Solid lumps and bumps - age spots (seborrheic keratoses), moles, skin tags and benign lumps (papules) can be effectively removed with minimal damage to the surrounding tissues.

Wrinkle Softening Injections & Fillers

  • Age, gravity, stress and sun can work together to bring about unwanted premature lines and wrinkles.  We use the latest injectable products and techniques to make you look the way you want to look, without the need for major surgery.  Some of the areas we like to soften and rejuvenate include the glabella lines (between the eyebrows), forehead furrows, crows feet, nasolabial folds (from the nose to the sides of the mouth), and numerous little creases and crevices around the lips, chin and cheeks.
  • Tendons and bands in the neck can make you look aged.  We can reduce these well-known wrinkle injections to give a youthful appearance.

Restylane, Esthelis and Juvederm Lip Enhancement

  • Lips tend to lose their texture and volume with the passage of time.  Using injectable hyaluronic acid fillers, we can make you look youthful and fresh again.  At the same time, we reduce some of the lines around your mouth with fillers to rejuvenate your face for many months.  We strive for a natural look so even your best friends won't be sure why you look so good.

Microdermabrasion

  • Microdermabrasion involves the removal of excessive layers of loose skin and blocked pores by a suction technique applied directly to the skin. We mostly treat the face, but other areas to benefit include the hands and neck.  This treatment is great at improving sun-damaged and neglected skin, acne, aged skin, dry and scaly skin, and as a prelude to other treatments such as chemical peels.  The removal of scaly surface skin and sebum enhances the absorption of beneficial cosmetic creams and lotions.

Facial Peels

  • Peels are another useful technique for rejuvenating aged, sun-damaged and neglected skin.  Medical strength chemical peels can totally change the appearance of a face that is sun-damaged. Peels are much gentler and more affordable than laser ablation.
